Metrohm USA partners with University of Maryland

Metrohm USA and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy have recently formed a mutually beneficial partnership. The alliance will bring Metrohm NIR spectrometers and software to the School to be used by students and faculty in a variety of disciplines. The presence of Metrohm at the School of Pharmacy will foster collaboration between Metrohm scientists and the research and education leaders at the School. Collaborative work is already under way in the laboratory of Dr Stephen Hoag, Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

“I am very excited to be working with Metrohm USA. This is a great opportunity for us to learn from each other”, says Hoag. “This is a win-win for Metrohm and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy” adds Ed Colihan, President and CEO of Metrohm USA. “Through this collaboration, we are able to work closely with the best and brightest in multiple fields, which allows us to discover new applications for our lab and process NIR spectrometers and other instrumentation.”

Additionally, Metrohm USA will sponsor an annual $1000 competitive travel grant to support School of Pharmacy students who are accepted to present their research at national or international scientific conferences. Scientists from Metrohm USA will also participate as guest speakers and instructors for the School of Pharmacy’s biannual Tablets & Capsules Hands-On Short Course, at which attendees receive an overview of the manufacturing of multiparticulate beads, capsules and tablets through lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions.
